Varadkar and Holohan go head to head over whether non vaccinated people should travel abroad or not

It’s getting quite contentious again between the Tanaiste Leo Varadkar and the Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan.

The two have had fairly public rows over the duration of the pandemic and it appears as though tensions may well be very high behind closed doors once again.

The Tánaiste Leo Varadkar said that people who are not fully vaccinated against Covid-19 can travel abroad, but need the Covid digital certificate and negative PCR tests before returning to Ireland.

Varadkar also says that people need to check what requirements the country that they’re travelling to has and what that country’s rules are.

When asked on RTÉ’s The Week in Politic, Varadkar said that Tony Holohan’s advice that unvaccinated people should not travel abroad was what he would advise himself.

However, Varadkar said that the government was enacting different laws than the CMO’s recommendations, keeping fairness in mind, especially for young people behind Covid-19 vaccines.
