A businessman who happened to come across the Sinn Fein PR stunt that The Liberal attended today gave Mary Lou McDonald a piece of his mind.
The man said when he saw McDonald that he “was he a concerned citizen and that he felt absolutely incensed when he heard her”.
The man told McDonald that Sinn Fein wants to “tax people out of existence”.
He said to the deputy:
“For middle income people, you’re going to kill their pensions. Have you seen the figures or can your leader do the maths,”
McDonald responded that her party had done the maths.
“I’m a political but I won’t be voting for Sinn Féin,” said the man in return.
Mcdonald then asked why the man wouldn’t vote for Sinn Fein:
“Because you’re going to strip the poor people of this country, middle income people. My children don’t want to aspire to €69,000-a-year, where you bring in this USC. I think it’s appalling.”
The deputy had little to no answer as to what the man conveyed as stifling incentive to young people.
