Vodafone and Three customers warn customers of a scam delivery text

People are asked to be aware of a text scam, in particular the elderly or those who do not use social media need to be aware of the scam.

Vodafone and Three customers have been warned of a scam text currently doing the rounds in Ireland.

The scam has so far been detected in Android devices only, but Apple users are also advised to be on alert.

The ‘Flubot’ scam involves users receiving a text saying that they might miss delivery of a package, which the customer might legitimately be waiting for. The text contains a link that redirects to a website identical, or near-identical to the legitimate one. The scam then proceeds with the download of two Android Package (.apk) files, which may be used to extract financial information and result in theft.

Users are advised to ignore these messages, and if in doubt, contact their delivery company to verify the information.
