If you’re a bit strapped for cash in early 2016, you could do worse than becoming a census enumerator. Ten weeks of part-time work delivering and collecting the census forms can earn you up to €2,400.
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) will offer part-time employment for 4,660 people. Census enumerators are paid a fixed fee for the delivery and collection of the forms, on top of fixed allowances for training, home storage, working on a Sunday, and travel expenses.
Competition for these positions is expected to be tough, however. The CSO will accept 15,000 applications, starting on January 5, and during the following three days unless the 15,000 limit is reached before that.
