Warning to parents – An attempted child abduction of a 2-yr-old girl has been reported in Dublin

A truly frightening and shocking incident occurred in Dublin’s city centre.

The Liberal was contacted by a number of readers claiming that a woman had posted on Facebook about an attempted child abduction on her 2-yr-old daughter.

The Liberal subsequently contacted the woman and she told us that a near-horrific ordeal took place. The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said she was standing outside a shop on Moore St, just off Henry St in Dublin’s city centre.

Her 2-yr-old daughter was a mere three feet away from her when a man aged in his late 20s or early 30s approached the little girl, tried to pick her up in his arms and tried to walk away with her.

The woman frantically screamed and ran towards her daughter and the man put the little girl down saying “I just want to kiss her, she’s beautiful”. The woman grabbed her daughter to which the man then turned and started to run down the street.

The woman told The Liberal that both her daughter and herself were extremely shaken by the incident and that she has contacted the gardai and they are investigating the matter.

She did manage to take several photos of the man, but we cannot publish them due to legal reasons.

The woman said that she advises all parents to be extra vigilant and extremely careful when out with their children.
