Such threats were made via audio recording by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the ISIS extremist organization.
This is al-Baghdadi’s first audio statement since the US-led coalition began military operations against ISIS in Iraq and Syria. The recording has deemed to be authentic, as al-Baghdadi’s voice pattern appears to match that of previous recordings released by the group.
In some comments released through social media, he also said that ‘his fighters will never abandon the fight, even if only one man remains alive.
This recording comes days after rumours circulated that al-Baghdadi’s had been wounded in an airstrike, though it is unclear when the recording was actually made.
