Weigh in before check in: Outrage as an American airliner implements new scheme that sees fat people being weighed before their flight

There is widespread outrage in the US after an American airliner decided to implement a new system that will see overweight passengers being weighed at check-in, before being allocated selected seats on their flight to ‘manage weight across the cabin’.

The news of the weight check system comes after one passenger, named David Haleck, lodged a complaint with the airline company after he was weighed and then allocated a seat to ‘balance’ the aircraft.

The airliner at the centre of the storm Hawaiian Airlines, has introduced the scheme as safety feature, and sat they will no longer allow passengers to pre-select seats on flights between Pago Pago and Honolulu.

Speaking about his ordeal Mr Haleck said he was deeply upset and angered by the new measure, before stating, ‘Of course Hawaiian is saying that ‘yes it is a safety issue’ but, you know, weight distribution …so have we been flying unsafe for all these years?
