What Irish homeless problem? 135 Ukrainian men, women and children to remain in Kerry accommodation after backlash over proposed move to Mayo

Forget the Irish men, women and children who appear to be completely forgotten by the government, the Ukrainians are being looked after and that’s the main thing, right?

Ukrainian refugees who had been told they will be relocated from their accommodation in Killarney, County Kerry, to Westport in County Mayo will now remain in the city of Kerry after strong local and political opposition to the move.

The 135 men, women and children will now move to temporary accommodation in the city.

Meanwhile, the Department for Children, Equality, Disability, Inclusion and Youth has confirmed that around 100 asylum-seeking women and children will move into the Killarney Hotel tomorrow.

They lived in a converted office building up until this point.

Many believe that the government continue to fail Irish homeless people as they do all they can for Ukrainians.
