Will they – won’t they? More mixed messaging as Ryan says schools will definitely open next week whilst Donnelly says nothing is set in stone

The public and parents across the country have been once again left scratching their heads as two top Government ministers have given different information in regards to the reopening of schools.

In a time where mixed messaging is far from needed it seems that Eamon Ryan and Stephen Donnelly have left the public asking questions once again as the issue of students returning to class is once again subject to debate.

Although initial reports have suggested that children will be returning on a phased basis from March 1st, the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has left the public asking questions as he said that nothing is set in stone.

Speaking to RTE’s Claire Byrne Live, Donnelly told host Byrne that nothing has been signed off yet and that reccomendations have been put forward to cabinet.

Donnelly also told the programme that nothing was certain but the Minister for Education and Government will have further information tomorrow.

The Health Minister’s comments which even left the RTE host shocked strikes a different tone to that set out by the Green party leader Eamon Ryan who seems certain that children will be back in class next Monday.

Speaking outside the Dail, Ryan told reporters that schools were definitely opening next week and further details would be revealed today.

The mixed information has now led to many parents and the rest of the public to voice their anger on social media with many questioning whether or not Government ministers actually meet at all.

Whilst others have said that the form of mixed messaging is unhelpful and it leaves people more stressed out and confused.
