Your weather forecast for the week, and it’s not looking good

winterweather

After a weekend of stormy devastation, this week’s weather will not fare that much better.

A wind warning came into effect this morning, and will remain active until 7pm this evening.

In the interim, a band of persistent and heavy rain will move in from the Atlantic, reaching Ireland by early afternoon. Scattered showers will follow towards evening, though it will remain mild at 12-14C.

Heavy rain will be tomorrow’s main weather feature, but come Wednesday, strong to gale force winds will lash the country once more, accompanied by heavy showers.

It will be cold on Thursday, with the possibility of sleet showers over higher ground. It will remain cold throughout the coming weekend, with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers. Temperatures will fall significantly after nightfall, with severe ground frost expected.
