1,200 jobs set to be created by three companies

There was more good news on the job front today as it was announced that two hundred new jobs are to be created by companies in counties Cork and Tipperary.

The Global software company SolarWinds is set to create 100 jobs at Citygate in Cork city. Meanwhile food company RibWorld has opened new premises at Fethard in Co Tipperary, where it is also set to create a 100 jobs.

The food supplies company Ribworld, which produces cooked meats, say that they hope to double their output over the next three years. The company known globally in their specialism of rib meat, opened a 9,000sq.m plant  today as part of their expansion. The company exports 85% of its produce.

The company says that recruitment to fill the 100 jobs will begin soon, with them expecting to employ 175 people by the end of 2017.

Meanwhile, the BWG group, the owners of supermarket chain Spar, is set to invest €100m in store development over the next five years. It is understood that the BWG investment will see over 50 new stores open around the country between now and 2016 with the creation of 1,000 jobs.

The move follows the recent investment by BWG South Africa, which saw it take an 80% holding in the group.
