In what can only be described as a truly disgusting state of affairs, 52-year-old Noel McDermott was left standing inside the A&E department at the Mater Hospital for 12 straight hours, as the place was severely overcrowded. He told his sister that he “couldn’t take much more of this”.
Tragically less than 24 hours later, the Dublin native suffered a sever heart attack and is now in a critical condition, suffering extensive brain damage. It’s understood the gentleman is currently in intensive care.
Mr. McDermott has a range of health issues, which were exacerbated by the lack of proper care received and the fact he was standing for half a day.
As Fernando Sanchez reported, Noel’s family have hit out at the miserable conditions experienced at A&E and across the health system in Ireland as a whole.
