At least 36 people are dead following a robbery attempt at popular Hotel and Casino resort in Manila on Thursday night.
According to state media many of the victims 13 of whom were staff at the Resorts World complex in Manila, were killed when a lone gunman entered the premises at midnight local time.
It is understood the masked man robbed a large amount of casino chips whilst brandishing his semi-automatic gun as tourists watched on in horror.
The man who later committed suicide by dousing himself in petrol then made his way to the second floor of the hotel were amassed panic broke out with many trying to flee the building.
Local police say the vast majority of the deaths which also included 23 civilians were caused by suffocation due to the cramped conditions in the mass evacuation.
