The city of Derry will honor the memories of those who died in the Buncrana tragedy last Sunday evening by opening books of condolences in several locations today.
Two adults and three children lost their lives when the car they were travelling in accidentally slipped off Buncrana Pier and entered the water. All five drowned, but a passerby managed to pull a baby to safety.
The victims were named as Sean McGrotty (48), from St Eithne’s Park in the Hazelbank area, his two sons, Mark James (12) and Evan James (8), Ruth Daniels (57) and her daughter Jodie-Lee Daniels (15), from Ederowen Park in Galliagh.
