A convicted child sex offender has been re-arrested in Northern Ireland by the PSNI.
It is reported that Patrick John Smyth had failed to return to Magilligan Prison following a period of home release and has been on the run from authorities since Monday.
It is understood 29 year old John Patrick Smyth was detained by the PSNI yesterday.
He is currently serving a sentence for gross indecency with or towards a child, rape, aggravated assault, being armed with an offensive weapon with intent to commit an offence, and making a threat to kill.
