Costly Mistake: Spending watchdog uncovers the state sold private government jet for less than half its complete value




The public may feel hard done by the Governments’ cuts and unfair taxation, the State may now feel hard done by themselves as the spending watchdog uncovered the state lost out on extra money over the sale of the government jet.

The news which will surely have few questions asked was recently discovered by the Comptroller and Auditor General who claims there should have been a tendering process implemented before jet was sold off last year.

The luxury Gulfstream jet which was sold for less than €500,000 could have fetched in the a staggering €1.1m. According to state records show the jet sold for €418,000, were in fact it could have gone for €750,000.

Whilst the biggest loss was recorded when the Government decided to sell spare parts for €53,000, even though they could have went for more than €400,000.
