Good news for shopping fans – Debenhams Ireland steadies their ship and exits examinership

debenhams

The existence of the Debenhams brand in Ireland was in jeopardy for some time, due to ongoing financial losses, high rents, and the loss of support by its UK parent company, Debenhams Retail plc.

However, a survival plan for the business has now been approved by the High Court, allowing Debenhams Ireland to exit examinership.

Debenhams currently operates four stores in Dublin, two in Cork, and also has a presence in Galway, Limerick, Newbridge, Tralee and Waterford.

The company will now only seek 98 voluntary redundancies and no compulsory ones.
