Well-known businessman Denis O’Brien has today criticised the decision to suspend water charges, saying “The government was wrong to back down on Irish Water. All the infrastructure is Victorian for the supply of water in Ireland.”

He added “I really don’t care who is in power but I think there needs to be stability in Ireland… It’s a time in Europe where a lot of unsettling things are happening.”

It is worth noting at this point that GMC/Sierra, one of three companies awarded contracts for the installation of water meters nationwide, is actually a subsidiary of Actavo, the infamous hot potato formerly known as Siteserv.
