A petition to submit a song from ‘Father Ted’ for the next Eurovision. Has been turned down by a group of TD’s.
The song ‘My Lovely Horse’ which was written by Divine Comedy for the hit tv series was submitted to The Oireachtas petitions committee after a number of people had signed a petition to have the song represent Ireland in the 2015 competition. The committee has said it cannot force RTÉ to submit ‘My Lovely Horse’ as Ireland’s entry for the contest in 2015.
It is believed that a member of the public sent in a petition demanding that the song, made famous in the ‘Eurosong’ episode of the TV series, be sent as Ireland’s entry to the real competition.
Committee chairman Pádraig Mac Lochlainn said the committee “didn’t have the musical expertise” it needed to consider the issue.
