Fianna Fail urging the Minister for Transport to prevent bus strikes

Bus-Eireann

A Fianna Fáil spokesman has strongly urged the Minister for Transport and the NTA to talk to union members in order to avoid industrial action by bus drivers.

The call comes after drivers for both Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann have voted in favour of a strike action after discussions with the Labour Relations Commission had broken down. Transport spokesperson for Fianna Fail  Timmy Dooley strongly believes that disruption to the country’s commuters can be easily avoided.

Mr Dooley Said: “If the appropriate intervention was made now by the Minister and the NTA, we could avoid a strike which can be so damaging to the economy, so damaging to the travelling public, and I think is unnecessary at this stage if the Government show good faith and try to resolve and meet the needs and concerns of the workforce in this particular instance.”
