Fire at old Dublin motor tax office extinguished, but fears for squatters arise

A massive fire that broke out earlier this morning at Dublin’s old motor tax office in River House, Chancery Street, has been extinguished. Six fire engines and other emergency personnel battled the blaze and managed to put out the flames a short time ago.

The building has been derelict for the last three years, and there are now fears that squatters may have been inside the premises when the fire started.

Firefighters are combing the smoked-filled building now, searching for possible victims.
