Gardai in Co Louth have confirmed that a woman aged in her 30s has died following a stabbing incident in Dundalk earlier this afternoon.
It is understood the woman who was a Lithuanian national and was aged in her 30s, died in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital shortly after the incident which occurred on Linehall Street in the town, at approximatley 2:45pm this afternoon.
Gardai say they have arrested a man aged in his 40s in connection with the incident and he is currently being detained at Dundalk Garda Station.
They also say they are currently awaiting the results of post-mortem examination in order to determine the exact cause of the woman’s death.
