The box of kittens was found out a butcher shop in Killybegs by a postwoman delivering post yesterday morning.

Aged between two and four weeks, the tiny animals were thought to have been left in the cold and rain for a number of hours before their discovery.

Some of the kittens are so young that they should still be drinking their mother’s milk, instead of a formula milk.

Animals in Need, an animal charity volunteered to take them in, commencing treatment for illnesses that they have.

CCTV footage has been examined and a man was seen depositing the kittens at the butcher shop at around 5am.

Animals in Need have launched an appeal for the man to contact them at 087 764 4420 and Gardaí are attempting to identify the man in the footage.
