According to various reports this evening the Government have approved a new Bill which will provide free GP care for people aged over 70.
The new bill be passed after being submitted to both Houses of the Oireachtas, the move comes as the Department of Health plan to provide universal GP service for all people over the age of 70 by the end of this year.
This latest move follows the introduction of free GP care for children under 6 earlier this year.
It is understood that the cost of the proposed legislation for a universal health care for the over 70s will be in the region of €18m per year.
