The Irish health system is in a state of total decrepitude today, as it has emerged that a 90-year-old woman was forced to spend seven hours on a trolley at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.
It is understood the elderly patient had suffered a minor fracture, and was placed on the trolley after an x-ray procedure was carried out.
Seven hours elapsed. She was eventually discharged and told to attend another appointment the next day.
Chronic overcrowding at the nation’s hospitals continues to increase year-on-year, with record numbers of patients spending hours on trolleys while waiting for treatment.
