High winds caused a great deal of disruption to travel and power supply overnight, as gusts of up to 100km/h were recorded across many areas.
Up to 6,000 homes and businesses remained without power this morning. Counties Wicklow and Carlow bore the brunt of the wind onslaught.
ESB crews are working to repair the lines, and all customers are expected to have their supply restored by noon.
