A 23-year-old woman who cannot speak or move was raped and became pregnant at an American care home it has been revealed.
According to WKRG, a lawsuit has been filled in the state of Florida, after the woman was allegedly raped at the National Mentor Healthcare in Pensacola, Florida.
It is understood the woman’s mother is suing the facility for $15,000 in damages.
The lawsuit states that staff at the care facility discovered horrific injuries that were consistent of that of sexual assault.
It is believed the woman who is fed through a tube and cannot move her arms or hands, had bruising and a broken hip when staff examined her in January 2018.
The lawsuit document also states that the woman was pregnant but later miscarried the baby.
WKRG say staff became concerned for the woman’s well-being after her behaviour changed, but they were ignored by management at the facility.
However the case came to light when staff contacted the Florida Adult Abuse Hotline.
It is reported that one person is suspected of raping the woman and court documents state that the woman was completely dependent on staff.
She has since been transferred to another facility.
