Investigation underway after a woman is allegedly gang raped by five men in Sorrento

Police authorities in the Italian holiday resort have issued five arrest warrants after a British woman was allegedly ganged raped.

According to The Daily Telegraph newspaper, the arrest warrants were issued to five hotel workers, after the 50 year old woman reported the incident to police after arriving back in the UK.

The Telegraph say the attack which allegedly occurred in October 2016, was aided by DNA testing.

The alleged victim claims she was subjected to the horrifying ordeal after two barmen slipped her a date rape drug before she was attacked by the two men in a hotel room.

The woman was then taken to another hotel room were she was raped by three other men.

According to Italian media the alleged attackers were identified after the woman gave police a description of a tattoo on one of the men’s neck.

It is also believed that mobile phones seized by police contained photographs and conversations about the attack.
