A woman having her blood pressure checked
Hundreds of pharmacies around Ireland are taking part in an initiative to get more people to check their blood pressure.
Participating pharmacies will offer free blood pressure checks, along with advise, from now until February 2nd.
Pharmacies will display an Operation Transformation poster in their outlet if they are involved in the campaign; around 750 pharmacies are taking part.
Pharmacist Daragh Connolly, head of the Irish Pharmacy Union (IPU) strongly believes in the benefits of the ‘Live Longer, Live Betterā campaign which focuses on Strokes and Heart Attacks.
Mr Connolly said: āBlood pressure is an important indicator and simple monitoring can play a key role in identifying serious healthcare issues.
āI encourage everyone to visit their nearest participating pharmacy over the next week to talk to their pharmacist and have their blood pressure checked.ā
