In what was billed as the fight of the century Floyd Mayweather Jnr has defeated Manny Pacquiao in unanimous points decision at MGM Grand in Las Vegas this morning.

The much hyped match between two of the sports greats in recent times turned out to be more of a tactical affair rather than a expected slugfest, with the undefeated Mayweather coming out on top after the judges scored the fight 118-110, 116-112 and 116-112 in Mayweather’s favor.

Mayweather seemingly kept Pacquiao at an arms length throughout the fight restricting the Philippine native from getting any rhythm. Mayweather looked more than happy to employe the famous rope a dope method and pick off Pacquiao with strategic punches. Although Pacquiao had the better of the opening rounds it always looked like Mayweather was employing a tactical strategy in order to pick off his opponent. The strategy seemed to have worked as the judges awarded the decision to the undefeated Mayweather in the end. Although the decision was met with a chorus of boo’s from the packed arena with many feeling the decision should have went the other way.

After the fight Pacquiao felt he should have won the fight claiming Mayweather was always keeping a distance and was avoiding squaring up to the fight. Meanwhile Mayweather was full of praise for his opponent claiming he was a great fighter and he earned a great deal of respect.

Mayweather went onto say that he still has one more fight left which he claims will happen in September. The bookies and pundits alike already have installed Britain’s Aimar Khan as Mayweather’s next opponent.
