Medical scans review has prompted the recall of 72 patients so far

Seventy-two patients have so far been recalled to hospital in the wake of the large-scale medical scan review being conducted at University Hospital Kerry.

Nearly 47,000 scan images are being reviewed after concerns were raised about the validity of the diagnoses made by a former staff member.

It is understood that a team of ten radiologists are carrying out the painstaking task.

Concerned patients can contact the helpline number 1800 742 290. The service operates 9am to 5pm.
