A woman who stabbed her alleged rapist a number of times to the heart and penis has been sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison.
The woman at the centre of the case Roxanne Eka Peters was given the sentence after she was found guilty of killing Grant Jason Cassar in Capalaba, Queensland, Australia, on December 4th 2015.
According to 9 News, the 35 year old was found guilty of the offence after a court heard of how Peters who was allegedly raped by Cassar stabbed the 51 year old with a 4 inch kitchen knife.
It is believed that Peters stabbed Cassar after he threatened to harm her daughter if she refused to have sex with him again.
The brutal murder occurred when Cassar visited Peter’s home and demanded that she cook him up some meth and have sex with him.
Reports say Peters who was scared for her daughter’s safety then proceeded to stab Cassar 60 times after she refused to have sex with him.
Following the murder the mother who had previously asked a friend for help to move Cassar’s body then tied his body to her car and dragged him a number of miles before dumping him on a semi rural road.
After Cassar’s body was discovered a local coroner’s report found that Cassar had been stabbed at least 60 times and that he sustained stab wounds to his penis and a fatal wound through his heart.
Peters who was sentenced on Monday following a lengthy trial was given a nine year sentence for manslaughter and an additional 18 months for interfering with a corpse.
Although the court did grant leniency to Peters given her situation, she was still given the lengthy sentence after the court ruled that she did not notify the relative authorities and took matters into her own hands.
However Peters will be eligible for parole in 2020 given she served time before sentencing.
