Nigerian national charged and remanded in custody after performing a circumcision on a 10-month baby in the Midlands




A 55-year-old man Nigerian national is to stand trial after he was charged with assault and causing harm to a 10-month-old baby boy in the Midlands three years ago.

According to RTE News, the man Philip Ogwebe was charged after he carried out a circumcision on the infant back in 2015.

Mr Ogwebe with an address at Green Lanes in Drogheda, Co Louth, was charged after he was arrested on Thursday and appeared Dublin District Court on Friday.

RTE News say the court heard testimony of how Mr Ogwebe used a surgical blade on the infant who was left seriously injured and battling for his life following the unauthorised surgical procedure.

Mr Ogwebe was refused bail and remanded in custody and will appear before court on November 23rd.
