The Fianna Fáil leader Mícheál Martin has said any deal on the confidence and supply agreement will not be rushed.

Mr Martin who was speaking at the Wolfe Tone Commemoration in Bodenstown in Co Kildare, said that his party will not agree to any new conditions or deadlines.

The Fianna Fáil leader also reiterated that his party would be setting out any preconditions ahead of negotiations this week.

Mr Martin’s comments come as both parties are expected to sit down and begin discussions on renewing the current agreement until 2020.

It is understood that Fine Gael were keen to complete a deal before the upcoming Halloween break, but Fianna Fáil have said they have no intention of rushing a deal.

The party say they are keen to reach an agreement but they will only do so as long as it provides stability for the Irish people.
