A woman has been killed and five others were seriously injured in a knife attack in Russell Square, central London late last night.
It is understood the incident occurred at 22:33 on Wednesday night when a man with a knife stabbed a number of passer-by’s.
One of the victims, a woman in her 60s, was treated at the scene but was pronounced dead a short time later.
A 19-year-old man was arrested a short time later when police used Taser to bring down the assailant. A police spokesperson said mental health was a “significant factor” in the events.
Scotland Yard’s assistant commissioner for specialist operations, Mark Rowley, said one woman and four men had suffered various injuries in the attack.
