The outgoing Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said he is deeply upset about the latest report which outlines details on how young and vulnerable children are treated once they are removed from their families.
Speaking about Geoffrey Shannon’s report into serious failings into how vulnerable children are cared for outside normal working hours, earlier today the Taoiseach said the state must work harder to rectify such failings and take the necessary measures to prevent such failings from ever happening again.
Mr Kenny also said the 17 steps and recommendations to resolve the issue will be fulfilled, explaining: “These must and will be followed through.”
The Taoiseach also added that he is ‘deeply upset about’ the treatment such youngsters have received.
