Postal services and court sittings suspended in the wake of Storm Ophelia




An Post have confirmed this morning that postal services in counties Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Galway, Clare and Limerick have been officially canceled in the wake of Strom Ophelia.

In a statement the postal service said all mail deliveries in the worst affected areas will be officially suspended in order to protect its staff.

Meanwhile the courts service of Ireland have confirmed that most sittings due to take place across the country have been postponed until a later date due to the possible threat to people’s safety caused by the storm.

The latest suspension of services has now led to the country almost being brought to a standstill as other services including buses, flights and ferries have been cancelled due the storm which is the worst to hit the country in 50 years.

All schools have been forced to close today whilst other public services have been forced to suspend services for the day in the interest of safety.
