There will soon another referendum in the coming months ahead after the Government accepted a motion that will see the waiting period for divorce being cut from four to two years.
The latest motion which was submitted by Fine Gael TD Josepha Madigan will now go before a constitutional referendum in order for the Bill to be passed.
Speaking about the new Bill Ms Madigan said the current constitutional requirement for separating couples to live apart for four years out of the preceding five before initiating divorce proceedings was cumbersome and restrictive, and should be shortened in order to free up our legal system.
