One of the country’s biggest supermarket chains Lidl has confirmed that all of its stores in Leinster and Munster will be closed from 3pm on Thursday until 1pm on Friday afternoon.
In announcment made this afternoon the retailer said it had made the decision to close all stores in Leinster and Munster due to the Red Status weather warning issued by Met Eireann.
Lidl also say the interest of public safety was paramount in the decision and they will review the situation as the weather progresses.
They also apologised for any inconvenience caused before reminding the public to be patient and to check their website for further updates on Thursday and Friday.
