Enda Kenny once referred to the US President Elect’s comments as ‘racist’ and ‘dangerous.’ But since The Trump Man seized power, Mr. Kenny’s song and dance is somewhat more servile.
The Taoiseach was quick to send his ‘sincere congratulations, and please can I have some of your charisma, Mr. Trump sir, to the man with the blond quiff after the erstwhile businessman and TV ratings aficionado became President of the United States.
He followed that reverence with a phone to the Vice-President, Mike Pence, a man with one-track mind to eradicate LGBT rights who once said that gay couples ‘signaled the collapse of society’. Nevertheless, the Taoiseach saw Mr. Pence as a great connoisseur of Irish issues.
In the Dáil today, Mr. Kenny was addressed by Independent TD Ruth Coppinger, who said that he had a ‘gushing’ response to the election results.
Mr. Kenny, somewhat laconically, answered ‘The decision has been made.’
