Taoiseach claims the Government’s plan is to ‘make people’s lives better in every part of Ireland’ after revealing new Government Programme




The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has announced the newly published the Programme for Government that will
‘make people’s lives better in every part of Ireland.’

The newly published document which aims tackle key issues such as homelessness, health and education was revealed today after Fine Gael, the Independent Alliance and Independent TDs reached an agreement on certain aspects of the programme.

Mr Kenny told the Dail this afternoon: “The Programme for Government published today is extensive but at its core is a simple objective is to make Irish people’s lives better.” “This Government is ambitious and optimistic. Politics is always about what is possible. “That sense of possibility is the touchstone of this Partnership Government for a Fairer Ireland.

“The government will work with all members of the Oireachtas and with wider society to deliver real and positive change for the people of Ireland.” Mr Kenny key also announced the newly formed Government’s top priorities include, an Agreement with the Oireachtas on a reformed Budget process, including the publication of a Spring Statement and a new National Economic Dialogue

The government also plan to Prepare an Action Plan for Housing. There will also be a mobile coverage and broadband task force setup for rural areas. Mr Kenny and his fellow TD’s plan to reactivate the National Treatment Purchase Fund to reduce waiting lists, along with a new winter A&E plan

There will also be Engagement between Government and education partners on new after-school care arrangements. The Taoiseach told the Dail: “The Irish people have worked hard for the progress the country has made and together we can build a better future for all our people in a fair society underpinned by a strong economy.”
