The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has revealed this evening that he would consider holding a public inquiry into allegations of a smear campaign against garda whistleblower Maurice McCabe.
Mr Kenny said that he and the Fianna Fáil leader Michael Martin will officially meet in the morning and try and come up with “an effective way of finding the truth”.
It is understood the meeting between the two political rivals, will come after Mr Martin scheduled a meeting with Mr McCabe this evening.
Meanwhile the McCabe have released a statement earlier today calling for a full public inquiry into the allegations made against him, claiming Everyone is entitled to the truth”.
