The season of giving: Aldi to give away surplus food this Christmas in order to help the homeless 




One of the UK and Ireland’s biggest supermarkets Aldi has confirmed that they will be doing their bit to help the homeless this Christmas.

The chain which is one of the most popular both here and in the UK have confirmed that they will be donating surplus food to homeless charities this Christmas.

In announcement today Aldi said their stores will be offering food to all charity homeless organisations to help those less fortunate this Christmas.

Aldi say the vast majority of its stores across the UK will be taking part in the initiative starting once their doors shut on Christmas eve.

They also say charities will be able to collect surplus food until December 27th before their doors reopen to the public.

It is not yet known whether or not the supermarket chain will carry out the the programme here, although the company is renowned for its goodwill as they have helped a number of charities across the Ireland in recent years.
