Margot Robbie’s profile continues to grow and she will next be seen playing Jane in ‘The Legend of Tarzan.’

Margot (25) is an Australian actress who burst onto the scene thanks to her turn as Leonardo Dicaprio’s wife in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’. Her career has gone stellar since the 2013 film.

In the new film, Tarzan, having acclimated to life in London, is called back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment. Alexander Skarsgard is playing the titular role of Tarzan.

Christopher Waltz is on bad guy duties. In the trailer we get the cliche ridden scene of Jane being kidnapped and of Tarzan having to try and save her. “He is Tarzan. You are Jane. He will come for you,” says Waltz’s character.

The talented actress started her career by appearing in Australian independent films, and was later cast in the soap opera Neighbours, which earned her two Logie Award nominations. She left the show in 2010 and set off to pursue Hollywood opportunities, and quickly landed a role in TV series Pan Am.

“I was always very dramatic – my family would probably use the word ‘dramatic’ – as a child; always putting on performances, making everyone come watch, and pay to watch. I was very business-savvy as a child,” she explains.

After Tarzan, she will appear as Harley Quinn in ‘Suicide Squad’ alongside Will Smith who she also shared the screen with in ‘Focus’ in 2015. After ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ in 2013 she went on the star in ‘Suite Francaise’, and then played Anne Burden in ‘Z for Zachariah’ alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor and Star Trek star Chris Pine. In this film a disaster wipes out most of civilization, and two men and a young woman find themselves in an emotionally charged love triangle as the last known survivors.

She has gone the comedy route in ‘Whiskey Tango Foxtrot’ with Tina Fey. In this film a journalist recounts her wartime coverage in Afghanistan. She is also starring in thriller ‘Terminal’ that is in post-production.

Prior to ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ she was a struggling actress best known for Neighbours. She had a small role in ‘About Time’ but the big time seemed a long way off. Then she got the role that opened doors for her.

It saw her strip off for the cameras for sex scenes alongside Oscar winner DiCaprio at the age of 23, but said that she had no qualms about baring all before the star and that working with him was an education.

She has previously spoken about Hollywood’s image of leading ladies.

“When you look at movies, the lead girl is always gorgeous and thin. There is a stereotype that you need to look a certain way and when you get in the business you really feel the pressure,” she said.

The Legend of Tarzan is due for release in July. Early trailers were full of CGI but later ones show a bit more of the storyline. Tarzan’s last big screen foray was the animated film in 2013.
