There be yet further strike action as Unions at Irish Rail have threatened industrial action if the state-owned company refuses to cut their working week.
It is understood that workers are seeking a reduction in hours from up to 43 hours to 35. The National Bus and Railworkers Union and SIPTU have said they will seek a 35-hour week for the company’s 540 drivers.
It is expected that there will be at least three days of talks at the Workplace Relations Commission begining from tomorrow.
The threat of industrial action comes after a new report found that their UK counterparts currently work a 35 hour working week over four or five days.
