Gardaí in Co Longford have sadly confirmed that an 83 year old woman has died following a house fire in Abbeylara.
It is understood died at the scene after the fire broke out at approximately 7pm on Saturday evening.
The woman’s remains have since been transferred to Mullingar Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place.
Gardai say they are not treating the fire as suspicious.
