There was some tragic news anounced late last night as Gardai in Co Kildare confirmed that a 16-year-old teenage boy has sadly died in hospital following a road traffic collision in Sallins on Tuesday morning.
It is understood the boy died on Tuesday evening after he sustained a number of fatal injuries in the collision.
Gardai say the boy was struck by the vehicle whilst crossing a road in the town, he was quickly taken to Naas Hospital but was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where he sadly lost his life despite the best efforts of medical staff at both hospitals.
They also say the driver of the van was uninjured in the collision and that investigation is currently ongoing.
