Varadkar to campaign for abortion for any reason up to 3 months – but won’t debate

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is to campaign over the coming weeks for abortion for any reason up to 3 months – but is unwilling to debate, according to sources.

Varadkar is to campaign to repeal the Eighth Amendment – the amendment that protects unborn Irish babies from abortion, but the former doctor has not indicated that he is prepared to debate one on one with somebody campaigning to save the Eighth and urging people to vote No in the upcoming referendum.

The referendum on the Eighth Amendment will take place on May 25th but a Fine Gael insider has said:

“The party is broken over abortion, the majority are against Leo and Simon on this and they know. We want to save the Eighth Amendment and Leo won’t be debating anyone over it – that I can tell you.”

What’s your thoughts? If the Taoiseach is campaigning for abortion for any reason up to 3 months – should he debate publicly against somebody who thinks unborn babies should have the same rights as everyone else? Tell us in the Facebook post comments.
