When will it end? Almost 600 people were languishing on hospital trolleys yesterday

It’s beginning to get utterly shambolic at this stage – we’re the laughing stock of the Western World in terms of hospital mismanagement.
A total of 542 people were waiting for admission across Irish hospitals yesterday. according to official figures.

It is understood that 382 out of those were waiting in overcrowded A&E departments.

Top of the shameful list once again is Limerick University Hospital with 52, followed by University Hospital Galway with 47, and Cork University Hospital with 47.

The likelihood of influenza and other winter-related bugs seeing more people admitted, it would seem that the trolley crisis is only going to get severely worse.
