GardaĂ in Co Cork have sadly confirmed that a man aged in his 70s has died following a road traffic incident.
It is understood the man was killed after the vehicle he was travelling in collided with a ditch in the Taur area of Newmarket, shortly after midnight this morning.
GardaĂ say the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and his body has since been taken Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place.
They added that no one else was injured in the incident and an investigation is currently ongoing.
